Which stations can I purchase a Casual Pass from?

You can purchase a Casual Pass from any CityCycle station equipped with Tap + Go. To check which stations have Tap + Go facilities, download our free app, AllBikesNow and select a station on the map to find out specific information on that station. If you have further questions, please phone the CityCycle Contact Centre between 7.30am and 5.30pm, 7 days a week.

Why is a deposit charged?

When you buy a Casual Pass from a station, $50 is preauthorised with your bank. This $50 includes the $2 Casual Pass plus a $48 deposit in case the bike is damaged, or you accrue usage fees for trips over 30 minutes.

When will I get the deposit back?

The $48 pre-authorisation fee will be released to your bank 48 hours after your casual pass expires. Once CityCycle releases the pre-authorised money, it is the responsibility of your bank to release the funds back into the account it was debited from. This can take anywhere up to two weeks.

How does the deposit work? Will this deposit be preauthorised immediately?

When you buy a $2 Casual Pass from a station, $50 will be preauthorised with your bank immediately. Of this amount, a deposit of $48 will be held in the event that a bike is damaged, or stolen, or in the event that you accrue usage fees for trips over 30 minutes. The deposit will be returned in whole, or in part, the following business day, after the pass expires.

Are Tap + Go payments secure?

Yes! Our Tap + Go facilities comply with credit card security standards.

What cards do you accept?

We accept Visa and MasterCard credit and debit cards
Unfortunately, we DO NOT accept Amex.

Can I use the same credit/debit card to purchase multiple passes at a station?

Yes you can. However, you will be charged a deposit upon purchase of each casual pass. You will also be held liable for all bikes taken out under your credit card.

Suggestion: If each rider has their own credit card, it would be best that each person purchase their own Casual Pass.

Help! I purchased a Casual Pass but it hasn’t printed my ticket or it jams

If you purchase a Casual Pass but your ticket does not print, select option 3 (three) to display your Pass number, and please phone the CityCycle Contact Centre on 1300 229 253 to report the issue.

Important! Keep your Casual Pass number handy; you will need this every time you use the bikes or call the CityCycle Contact Centre. If you lose or forget your Casual Pass number, you will need to buy another Casual Pass either online at, or at an alternative station.

And remember, you can enjoy unlimited 30 minute journeys at no extra cost! Journey’s over 30 minutes accrue usage fees. See the table of fees here. (link to usage fees)
