How do I use my go card to hire a CityCycle bike?

You can only use your go card to hire a bike if you have linked your go card to your CityCycle account.

a. You can purchase a go card from one of TransLink’s distribution points.

b. Sign up to a monthly membership and select the TransLink go card option.

c. After joining, you will receive a membership number and link number via email.

d. Visit any CityCycle station, scan your go card and follow the prompts to link your go card to CityCycle. You will need to enter your membership number, link number and PIN (You only need to use your membership & link numbers once).

You can now use your go card to start riding – don’t forget to grab a helmet!

Do I have to register my go card in order to use the CityCycle service?

No. You can use any go card to access CityCycle. However, having your card registered ensures your travel balance will always remain safe as soon as you report to TransLink that your card is lost or stolen. Please visit the TransLink website for more information.

When I use my go card to hire a CityCycle, am I charged the same fees as bus, train or ferry travel?

No. TransLink go card fares on buses, trains and ferries are separate to CityCycle fees. For CityCycle billing enquiries please call the CityCycle Contact Centre on 1300 229 253.

How do I know which charges are TransLink and which are associated with CityCycle?

All CityCycle charges will appear on your bank/credit card statement.

Can I use my CityCycle card for travel on the TransLink public transport network?

No. CityCycle Classic cards can only be used to access CityCycle. All TransLink bus, train and ferry services are only accessible using a TransLink go card. For information on where to buy a go card or how to use a go card please visit translink.com.au or call 13 12 30.

I only want a casual pass. Can I use my go card?

No. go card can only be used when linked to a monthly membership.

Why is my go card not working to hire a CityCycle bike?

a. Do you have a CityCycle membership?

Only CityCycle members who have linked their go card to their CityCycle account can hire a bike with their go card.

b. Have you linked your go card to your CityCycle membership?

Only CityCycle members who have linked their go card to their membership at a CityCycle station can hire a bike with their go card. Visit any CityCycle station, scan your go card and follow the prompts to link your go card to CityCycle. You will need to enter your Membership number, Link number and PIN.

c. Are you swiping your go card with other cards in a wallet or lanyard?

The card reader at a station will get a mixed reading from multiple smart cards scanned at the same time.

If you still cannot use your go card, please contact the CityCycle Contact Centre on 1300 CCYCLE (1300 229 253) between 7:30am and 5:30pm, 7 days a week, or complete the online email form.

Can I link my CityCycle account to my go card even though I have an existing CityCycle ‘Classic’ card?

Yes. Please call the CityCycle Contact Centre on 1300 229 253 between 7:30am and 5:30pm, 7 days a week, to request a link number for your go card. Alternatively you can request a new link number through the ‘My Account’ feature on the website or through our free app AllBikesNow.
Only one access card can be linked to a CityCycle account at any time.

Where can I purchase a go card?

You can buy a go card online at www.translink.com.au or at select locations including many Queensland Rail stations, selected busway stations, newsagents and 7-Eleven stores where you see the 'buy' symbol.

I have topped up my go card. Why can’t I hire a CityCycle?

CityCycle does not access or use your go card credit (CityCycle and TransLink’s go card use separate billing systems).
